Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Decide whether shielding review is required
Louisiana generally requires floor plans and shielding information before construction. Dedicated mammography, podiatric radiographic, panoramic dental, and intraoral dental rooms are exempt from routine plan submission. Veterinary rooms are decided case by case.
Step 2: Prepare and submit the shielding package
Have a qualified shielding professional prepare the calculations and floor plan. Keep the state approval letter for the registration package.
Step 3: Complete one DRC-6 for each machine
Enter the facility, machine, location, ownership, and contact information. Attach the approved shielding letter or the required room information.
Step 4: Email or mail the application
Email the signed PDF to LDEQRadiationlicensing@la.gov. Or mail it to Office of Environmental Compliance, Radiation Section, P.O. Box 4312, Baton Rouge, LA 70821-4312.
Step 5: Keep the certificate and report changes
Keep each registration with the machine records. Send updates when a machine is added, moved, replaced, transferred, or removed.
Cost
Louisiana's fee depends on the machine and facility type. Follow the fee instructions sent by the Radiation Section after it reviews the submission.
