Fluoroscopy and C-arm use can create variable scatter conditions. The shielding design should reflect the actual procedure mix, equipment configuration, workload, beam orientations, staff locations, and room use.

Fixed fluoroscopy inputs

  • Exact equipment, table, tube, detector, and control locations.

  • Common beam directions and table orientations.

  • Expected procedure types, duration, and workload.

  • Operator and staff positions.

  • Room dimensions, construction, and all adjacent occupancy.

Mobile C-arm inputs

  • Every room or location where the unit may be used.

  • Common table and C-arm positions.

  • Likely lateral and vertical beam orientations.

  • Procedure mix, frequency, and operating time.

  • Staff workflow and nearby occupied areas.

Plan for variability

A single idealized position may not represent clinical use. Document the expected range of positions and procedures so the design can address realistic operating conditions without assuming every case is identical.

Coordinate changes

Changing a fixed table, adding mobile use, expanding procedure types, or moving the control area can alter design inputs. Review significant changes before construction or expanded clinical use.
